Toronto – January 18, 2022 – The YMCA of Greater Toronto is thrilled to be selected as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for 2022 – the 12th year in a row the charity has received this recognition.

“The pandemic has left many people craving meaningful careers and the YMCA of Greater Toronto is a place where young people can reach their potential while also helping people in our community shine,” says Medhat Mahdy, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Toronto. “No matter what a young person’s career life aspirations are, there’s probably a role at the Y to give them valuable work experience that ignites a sense of purpose.”

The YMCA of Greater Toronto offers an enriching environment for young staff to fuel their passions and careers. It offers a variety of employment opportunities including early childhood educators, lifeguards, employment counsellors, camp counsellors, shelter workers and outdoor educators. About 40% of its employees are under the age of 30.

This year, Y employees continued to put their creativity and expertise to the test, adapting programs and services to meet the needs of the community during the pandemic – from emergency child care to virtual health and fitness programming, and from opening food banks to hosting vaccination clinics. Y employees also continued to offer remote and in-person employment, immigrant services, and camp programming.

In addition to being among the 2022 Canada’s Top Employer for Young People, the YMCA of Greater Toronto was also recognized as one of one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers in 2022 and a 2021 Greenest employer.

The YMCA of Greater Toronto offers a range of employment opportunities for a variety of roles at over 400 locations across the Greater Toronto Area. Check out exciting career opportunities currently posted at the Y at https://ymcagta.org/join-our-team/employment-opportunities.
