What safety measures are in place at Day Camp?

As we have done throughout the pandemic, we will continue to monitor the situation and are prepared to reinstate protocols as required.

What screening practices will be in place at Day Camp?

Effective March 21, 2022, as per Ministry of Health guidelines, Day Camp families are required to self-screen at home using the COVID-19 school and child care screening tool. If a child does not pass screening, they must be kept home for the required isolation period.

Will staff be required to wear masks to Day Camp?

As of March 21, 2022, participants, staff and volunteers are no longer required to wear masks in our day camps. We understand that each individual lives with different circumstances and vulnerabilities and may make decisions that are different from others. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we encourage and support your choice to do so.

What is your vaccination policy?

As of March 21, 2022 we don't require participants to be vaccinated to attend Day Camp programs.

Will campers be required to wear masks to Day Camp?

As of March 21, 2022, participants, staff and volunteers are no longer required to wear masks at our day camps. We understand that each individual lives with different circumstances and vulnerabilities and may make decisions that are different from others. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we encourage and support your choice to do so.

How will physical distancing be promoted at Day Camp?

As of March 21, 2022, individuals are no longer required to maintain a distance of two metres from every other person in indoor areas.

What are the cleaning measures at Day Camp?

The enhanced cleaning protocols that have been in place throughout the pandemic will continue. For example, at our Day Camp locations, we've implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting measures recommended by public health authorities that are designed to support regular hand hygiene and to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious illnesses.

What if I have to cancel my camper's registration?

If you wish to withdraw a participant from a program, you can do so by accessing the participant’s Registration History via your My Y account or by submitting your request to withdraw by email to register@ymcagta.org.
Withdrawals that are processed online or requested by email 10 days before the start of the program will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 10% per program being withdrawn. Withdrawal requests received with less than 10 days’ notice will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 50% of the cost of the program being cancelled. These requests must be submitted by email to register@ymcagta.org.
A doctor's note is required for any withdrawal due to medical reasons. Refunds are not granted for inclement weather. Any request received after the start of the course will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Refunds take 2–3 weeks to process.

Integration and Accessibility Program 1:1 Support

This support is available to families with children who require additional support while in YMCA programming (Day Camp, School Breaks, Overnight Camps, etc). We do our best to ensure that every child is placed in a program that best supports their needs through the year. Some sites are not fully accessible.

Safety

Keeping you and your camper as safe as possible is our first priority. Here’s how we’ve enhanced your Y experience to help keep everyone as safe as possible at camp:

  • Daily self screening protocols for all staff, parents/guardians, and campers
  • Our staff are trained in additional cleaning and disinfecting measures, and will ensure this is happening throughout the day

We’ll be in touch before your program starts so you and your camper(s) know exactly what to bring and can familiarize yourselves with any new or updated COVID-19 safety protocols

Did you know?
50% of YMCA Day Campers receive financial assistance or government subsidies.

Without support from donors like you, too many children and youth wouldn’t be able to access the fun, friendship, and learning opportunities of camp — and their parents wouldn't be able to afford this crucial form of care that enables them to work through the summer months.
