The YMCA values it’s history of partnering with volunteers. There are many benefits of volunteering including learning new skills, sharing your knowledge and expertise, meeting new people, finding a place to belong and making new friends all while helping your community improve it’s overall health. All volunteers receive training to ensure the safe and efficient operations in our child care, employment, camp, youth and health and fitness programs across the GTA. Volunteering is a great way to obtain your Ontario high-school credit hours, complete a student placement, try something new, make new friends or transition to a new life-stage. The YMCA has a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities available.
Please be advised that due to the high volume of requests we receive for volunteer positions, it may take up to 15 business days for one of our staff to contact you after you have submitted your application. Once you are contacted, our screening process generally takes 4-6 weeks to complete.
Applicants interested in a student placement are asked to contact staff at one of our locations directly to see if there are any opportunities available. All of our program sites and locations can be found through our Find a Y page. Alternatively, applicants can complete the online application and indicate that they are interested in a post-secondary student placement.
The YMCA is a leader in play-based learning and curriculum development for children ages 18 months to 12 years of age. As such we are the leading provider of affordable, quality licensed child care, school-aged programs and family enrichment programs across the GTA.
The YMCA Camp programs help children and youth build confidence, skills leadership and environmental awareness. The programs are offered across the GTA during summer months and school breaks, and our Outdoor Education programs are offered year-round.
Employment Services provide personalized services to help youth and adult job seekers develop their skills and find meaningful employment. A wide variety of resources and community programs are also available to qualified volunteers such as YMCA Immigrant Services, Youth Support Services and International programs. Unique and interesting volunteer opportunities are available.
The YMCA is committed to the holistic health of all individuals by providing a unique support network and variety of health and fitness programs for all ages and abilities. Our YMCA Health and Fitness programs go beyond what you would find at your average gym. It’s a place where you have the opportunity to participate in important community programs and make new friends at the same time.
