Second set of multi-video exercise series released to help Canadians improve well-being and maintain New Year’s resolutions

Toronto – February 23, 2021 – The YMCA of Greater Toronto and ParticipACTION released the second series of exercise videos to help Canadians beat the winter blues, improve their well-being and maintain their New Year’s resolutions. The free video series aims to help Canadians stay active this season and features a new set of exercises including cardio training, strength and endurance.

The YMCA and ParticipACTION released their first set of videos on December 29, 2020. This second video series is designed for all fitness levels and intended to help Canadians improve their physical and mental health in 2021. The videos showcase a variety of exercises including cardio training, endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination. Research shows including varying workouts and exercises results in positive health outcomes and increases motivation – contributing to the maintenance of health and fitness goals.

“Following the warm reception for our first video series, we’re excited to continue sharing at-home exercises with ParticipACTION, especially now that all of us are spending more time isolated at home,” says Tammy MacDonald, Senior Vice President, Health & Fitness, YMCA of Greater Toronto. “Together with ParticipACTION, we’ve been able to showcase both our charities’ commitment to promoting physical and mental well-being, virtually.”

“This second video series arrives at the perfect time, when so many of us may be abandoning our resolutions to exercise and get active due to stress and lack of time,” says Elio Antunes, President and CEO, ParticipACTION. “It’s so important to stay active, especially during these colder months, because it provides much needed mental and physical health benefits.”

Starting today, videos are available for free on the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Sweat for Good app, as well as the ParticipACTION app. The ParticipACTION website and app also feature other motivational content like team challenges, workout videos and tips and tricks including a dedicated At-Home Activity content section.

If you’re looking for alternative ways to stay active and reach 2021 health and fitness goals, the YMCA of Greater Toronto also offers Y Virtual Memberships. By activating the membership on the Sweat for Good app, members have access to over 100 programs a month including Yoga, YMCA Arriba, YMCA TotalFit and more. Basic access to the Virtual Y Membership is free and includes four online fitness classes per week, carefully selected by the Y to give you a better idea of what is expected with unlimited access.

The free video series is available on the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Sweat for Good app and the ParticipACTION app.
