Youth Substance Awareness Program
The Youth Substance Awareness Program (YSAP) is a confidential, community based self-referral program offering FREE services to young people, 14-24, who are using substances.
What We Do
If you are looking for support with substance use and misuse or know someone who is, we can help. Our services are free and confidential and our counsellors are available to support youth with substance use issues, options to make healthier choices and reduce risk. We provide:
- Individual counselling for 14-24 year olds
- Person centered and strength based approach
- Practices from a Harm Reduction philosophy*
- Assessment – GAIN Q3
- Harm Reduction supply distribution (substance testing kits and equipment for safer use)
- Educational workshops on substances, substance use and harm reduction
Our Approach
Everyone has the right to make their own decisions about their lives, which is why YSAP works from a harm reduction perspective. It is about mutual respect and collaboration to reduce the risks and harms associated with substances, substance use and any other behaviors. YSAP supports, encourages, and empowers young people to develop their own substance use goals and to make informed decisions for themselves. Please contact us if you think you would like to talk to someone. Sometimes it may be hard to ask for help and its okay to have someone you trust help you connect with us.
