Fast Track Tech Jobs

(formerly known as Bridge to Cloud Computing & Big Data)

Fast Track Tech Jobs is a professional bridging program offered in collaboration between the YMCA of Greater Toronto, Employment Ontario and Seneca College.

About the Program

This 12-16 week bridging program is a condensed and modern skills development approach for internationally trained professionals looking for career opportunities within the cloud and data science sector. This program not only covers pre-employment and essential skills in Canada, but also the hands-on technical training that helps in shaping careers in the cloud computing and big data industry. This program is for anyone living in the Greater Toronto Area.

Why Choose This Program

Participants will be able to:

  • Learn the Canadian IT/Cloud Computing/Big Data landscape and the legislated rules and policies that are relevant when working in Canada
  • Explore the different job families and related positions in these disciplines which are available in Canada, in both the public and private sector
  • Refresh and fill the gap in skills and competencies that relate to the concepts of Cloud Computing, Data Analytics and Big Data
  • Integrate and apply their learning through a capstone project where they will work in groups to present design solutions and recommendations at an executive level
  • Participate in placement/internship in Canadian organizations/companies to enrich the real-life experience and apply the skills learned during the bridge program
  • Develop foundation and skills for certification in Cloud Computing, Big Data and Analytics (for example)
  • Complete training as a student of Seneca and affiliate with various Cloud and Big Data companies in the Greater Toronto and Canada
  • Get access to participate in mentoring programs and connections to leading recruitment and hiring professionals
  • Attend weekday classes, so participants can utilize their weekends for other professional development and learning-life balance
Eligibility
  • Be at least 18 years old and a resident of Ontario
  • Have international post-secondary education (at least two years) in the field of IT, Cloud Computing, Data Analysis and have international work experience in their occupation (at least one year) or a combination of 3 years
  • Have language proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7 or higher
  • In addition to mentioned above, participants must be one of the following
    • refugee claimant with a valid work permit
    • permanent resident
    • Convention refugee
    • naturalized Canadian citizen
  • Successfully pass the program admission test and interview
Learning Mode

Hybrid (Online and In-person)-weekday program so that participants can participate in other professional development opportunities during weekends!

Program Length

This program includes 12-16 weeks of training and placement.

    Week 1-Introduction to Cloud Computing
    Week 2-Python Programming
    Week 3-Introduction to AI and ML on Azure
    Week 4-Data Analysis
    Week 5-Create Classification Models
    Week 6-Create Machine Learning Models
    Week 7-Azure AI Services - Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing
    Week 8-Completion of Capstone, Presentation, and AZ 900 Test
    Week 9-12-Support finding Work-Placement Opportunities
    Week 12-16-Optional Placement for more insights and skills as needed

The sequence of the topics covered on a certain week may change however scopes and total training remain the same.
