YMCA of Greater Toronto is recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2025

25 February 2025

Toronto – February 25, 2025 – The YMCA of Greater Toronto is honoured to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2025 – marking the 11th year the charity has earned this distinction.

This year, the YMCA of Greater Toronto was recognized for reasons including:

  • introducing "equity and well being promoter" as a competency for performance evaluation
  • launching a pilot leadership development program for Black employees, designed to address specific barriers unique to Black employees and provide mentorship from peers and leaders who have lived experience navigating leadership roles
  • providing salaried employees with two Association days and three family responsibility days that can be used for religious or cultural days of significance

“Being recognized as a top diversity employee is especially important today, as we continue to see Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging be challenged in workplaces and communities,” said Lesley Davidson, President & CEO, YMCA of Greater Toronto. “At the YMCA of Greater Toronto, we strive to create a culture where everyone has opportunities to reach their full potential. This recognition shows that our charity is moving in the right direction, and re-ignites our commitment to these efforts."

In addition to being among Canada’s Best Diversity Employers (2025), the YMCA of Greater Toronto was also recognized as a Greater Toronto Area Top Employer in 2025, and one of Canada’s Greenest Employers in 2024.
