Lunchie Comes to YMCA Day Camps
With all the activity packed into each camp day, it is important that campers come with the fuel they need to keep their energy high and ensure they get the most out of their camp experience. For families at a selection of YMCA Summer Day Camps in the GTA, an easy way to make sure lunches are taken care of is by signing up for the bagged lunch option provided in partnership with The Lunch Lady.
Many families are familiar with The Lunch Lady offerings as they have been providing healthy lunches in many local schools across the GTA since 1993. Founder and head lunch lady, Ruthie, started The Lunch Lady to provide simple healthy meals for children.
“At the Lunch Lady, our concept is not complicated. We want to make a healthy lunch simple, safe and enjoyable for everyone," says Ruthie. “We prepare classic and popular favourites in our nut-free kitchens using high quality ingredients to create individually catered meals that are always lower in sodium, fat and sugar and higher in whole grains, fruits and veggies and fibre.”
For $30/week, campers will receive a nutritious lunch each day at camp. Families can choose between a standard or vegetarian option, which all include an entrée, a piece of fruit, a granola bar or cookie, and 100% fruit juice. Each week's menus include kid favourites like chicken strips with plum sauce, Tex-Mex egg wraps and pizza pasta salad.
