Parents, still searching for the perfect summer program for your child? From engaging curriculum-based initiatives to unforgettable camp adventures, we've curated a list of five YMCA of Greater Toronto summer programs to make your child’s school break extra fun.
1. Outdoor Day Camp programs
What does a perfect summer day look like for your child? Painting, making movies, perfecting their corner kick, or exploring the wonders of the outdoors? Our outdoor Day Camp programs include Eco-Adventure Camp (focuses on outdoor skill development and learning about native species), Farm Camp (an educational experience about the foundations of gardening), Paddle & Pedal Camp (focuses on boating and biking), and Rocks & Ropes Camp (an introductory climbing program). There’s a program that’s just right for your little camper for ages 6 to 12. Register for outdoor Day Camp.
2. Indoor Day Camp programs
While our indoor Day Camp programs have plenty of outdoor activity time each day, they put focus more on developing skills in programs like Performing Arts Camp, Y-Cook Camp (our YMCA cooking program for children), Stop Motion Animation Camp, Science Camp, and Multi-Sport Camp (which includes a variety of sports). Register for indoor Day Camp.
3. Variety Camp
Want the best of every camp in one program? Variety Camp, for ages 4 to 15, offers a combination of games, crafts, science, music, and movement. Activities vary based on location and may include indoor and outdoor programming. This may be the right choice to make your child’s school break extra fun if they want to experience highlights from all our camps. Register for Variety Camp.
4. Licensed Summer Break Child Care
Are you familiar with our YMCA curriculums Playing to Learn™ and A Place to Connect™? We offer our early learning expertise and knowledge throughout the summer for children ages 4 to 12.
Rooted in our commitment to education and character development, these programs foster life skills such as leadership and teamwork through engaging activities like arts, sports, and group projects.
Licensed Summer Break Child Care is available to all families within Peel and York regions. Elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area, this program is exclusive to families already registered in our Licensed Child Care program. Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) discounts will be applied to eligible fees upon registration.
5. Overnight Camp
One of our two outdoor centres, YMCA Camp Pine Crest, is nestled along the shores of Clear Lake in Muskoka. This site is home to our 100-year-old overnight and leadership camp programs. We offer a variety of overnight and leadership camp options:
- Three days and two nights for ages 5 to 7
- One-week and two-week options for ages 7 to 13
- Up to eight weeks of leadership camp for ages 13 to 17
At overnight camp, campers connect and have fun outdoors while participating in an exciting schedule of facilitated programs. All programs, accommodations, and meals are included in the fees. Register for Overnight Camp.
