Free events this Family Day at YMCA

10 Ways you can Make the Most of this Family Day

You only get one day a year that’s specially set aside for you to enjoy with your family - so take advantage of it! This Family Day, the YMCA wants to inspire you to take time as a family and build connections with your community and each other. That's why all of our centres will have planned programming focused on activities you can do together.

We have highlighted 10 family-friendly activities you can take advantage of at YMCA Centres of Community across the GTA this February 15, 2016. We encourage all members of our community to come out and participate in the day's events:

1. Family Carnival at the The West End YMCA
   From 11:00 am - 1:45 pm, cash in your raffle tickets at a bouncy castle, face painting station, arts & crafts table, or game circuit for your chance to win a surprise prize!

2. Obstacle Course at the Toronto Sheppard YMCA
   Running from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, this fitness challenge was designed for all ages.  Challenge your family members to a friendly competition, or complete the course as a team!

3. The Bouncy Castle at the Mississauga YMCA
   Encourage your kids to let their imaginations run free as they play in an all-time favourite! From 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, they’ll get a solid dose of physical activity, while believing it’s all just fun and games.

4. Family Dance at the Central YMCA’s
   Learn some new moves and put your memory to the test! The whole family will love our upbeat song selection and easy-to-learn choreography.

5. Family Yoga at the Brampton YMCA
   We’ll help everyone calmly stretch out and regain their centre from 9:00 - 10:00 am. You’ll all get to enjoy your zen for the rest of Family Day!

6. Family Crafts at the Markham YMCA
   From 12:00 - 2:00 pm, you can bond with your little ones while getting creative together. We bet you leave with a beautiful hand-made souvenir, courtesy of the kids!

7. Family Drumfit at the Scarborough YMCA
   Find your rhythm in this upbeat fitness class, running from 10:30 - 11:15 am. A high-energy playlist will keep you all energized as you drum your way through this cardio-intensive choreography.

8. Family Basketball at the Oshawa YMCA
   From 2:30 - 3:30 pm, you can shoot some hoops, challenge the kids to a face-off, or organize a friendly game of 3-on-3 with another family.

9. Family Swim across the GTA
   All 8 YMCA Centres of Community are welcoming families to take advantage of our spacious, heated, indoor swimming pools this Family Day. Practice bubble-blowing and back floats with your toddlers, or challenge your teen to a race!

10. Family Gym at all YMCA Centre of Community
    We believe you should have the freedom to choose how you want to play, bond, and grow with your kids. Create your own adventures during Family Gym, where you and your little ones have the power to decide how you get active together.

Don’t miss out on the fun this year! All of our Centres of Community will be open to the public for free on Family Day, so you can check out as many of these activities as you want. We'll also be waiving our usual joining fee to encourage you and your family to continue getting active all year round!
