Celebrating our YMCA City Builders: Jenifer & Steve McDonald

YMCA City Builders are philanthropic leaders who have generously given 1 million dollars or more to date to the YMCA of Greater Toronto. On June 5, 2018, we proudly honoured Jenifer & Steve McDonald as they were inducted into our growing circle of esteemed YMCA City Builders. Jenifer and Steve McDonald’s YMCA story started when they each learned to swim at a YMCA as kids, and it’s far from over, as their legacy of generosity is set to transform entire communities for generations to come.
A desire to help young people facing barriers succeed is at the heart of their efforts — Jenifer and Steve feel that all kids should be able to access the wide variety of programs and supports our Y offers. They chose to turn this desire into action by making the largest gift our YMCA has yet to receive toward our Strong Start, Great Future Capital Campaign. Authentic YMCA City Builders, Jenifer and Steve’s philanthropic leadership is a profound expression of their commitment to helping transform lives and, by extension, whole communities.
Thanks to their outstanding generosity, we’re currently building one of our newest YMCA Centres of Community — the McDonald Family YMCA — in the heart of downtown Toronto. They’ve also lent their incredible support to our in-development Bridletowne YMCA, as well as our Vanauley Street YMCA.
