YMCAGTA celebrates 160 years at 2013 Annual General Meeting

The YMCA of Greater Toronto celebrated 160 years of hard work and success at today’s Annual Meeting at the Toronto Central YMCA.
“For 160 years this organization has been achieving positive change in the communities we serve,” said President and CEO Medhat Mahdy, as he played a video highlighting the Association’s long history.

“Over the last three years we proved to ourselves yet again that we have the tools we need to evolve and grow – to enhance our relevance, ensure our sustainability and most importantly -- to contribute to positive social change in our communities.”
As part of his speech, President Mahdy presented a video about the Y’s successes, which looked at a day in the life at the Y.

During the meeting, the Association took a moment to thank Board Chair Dr. Gordon Chong for his time and dedication, as well as to introduce the incoming chair, Tim Penner and other board members.
“Our achievements in 2012 -13 have given me great confidence that we have what it takes to achieve our biggest dreams,” said President Mahdy.
