Our Registered Early Childhood Educators are crucial to our licensed child care programs. Our RECEs provide enriching and stimulating environments by following the children’s leads to enhance their learning.
In honour of Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day, we'd like to highlight some thoughts and comments from a handful of the Registered Early Childhood Educators at our child care programs across the Greater Toronto Area:
Melanie, York
“The YMCA has been there for me over the years, helping me celebrate birthdays, marriage, births and everything in between. I have been given many opportunities to better myself as a professional through seminars and training offered by the YMCA, and in doing so have become a better educator. For me the YMCA hasn’t just been a place of employment, or education, but an integral and rewarding part of my life that has been a home for not only me but my children.”
Sabrina Newman, Durham
“I have worked in licensed childcare for eight years as an RECE and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Every day I see families who would otherwise feel socially isolated become part of something bigger and feel accepted. I have also become a part of a greater cause, and the self-acceptance I feel as a member of the YMCA community cannot be described in words.”
Lindsay, Peel
“My time at the YMCA has allowed me to grow as a professional with not only the opportunity to work in the classroom, but now with my full time position I have been given the opportunity to work in the office as well. Each day I go into work and embark on a new learning adventure and I’m excited to see what the day holds for me. For me, the YMCA is more than just a workplace, it’s a family, and I am very proud to belong to it.”
