Prepping your kids for camp can be a little tough, especially for first-time campers who may not know what to expect once they arrive. We created this fun video to find out what Y campers will need most while they're away from home:

Some of those items are so often over-looked that they're worth mentioning twice:
Flashlight - While our camp grounds are well-lit, it never hurts to have an extra source of light around a camp fire or in your bunk. Make sure to pack extra batteries for your flashlight as well!
Waterproof jacket with a hood - Campers need to be prepared for both rain and shine, as we hold as many activities as possible outdoors, so invest in a waterproof jacket with a hood. Holding an umbrella will take a hand away from other fun camp games!
Bug repellent - Unfortunately summer is prime time for one of our least favourite bugs: the dreaded mosquito. Pack a bottle of bug spray that will cover you head-to-toe a few times a day for the duration of your camp experience.
Mini first-aid kit - While our highly qualified Y camp staff can perform first-aid if needed, it's always handy to have some bandaids, antibacterial wipes and tweezers for splinters close by just in case.
Novels/puzzle books - Your days will be jam-packed with fun outdoor activities, but make sure you pack some novels, crosswords, sudoku books, etc. for when you do have a little down-time before bed.
