1. Christine Sinclair
Having competed in multiple FIFA World Cups and Olympics Games, Christine Sinclair is one of Canada's greatest soccer players. She set a world record when she scored six goals at the London 2012 Olympics, which helped win Canada the bronze medal in women's soccer. Sinclair has also been nominated five times for FIFA World Player of the Year.
2. Hayley Wickenheiser
Hayley Wichenheiser is one of the most recognizable names in women's ice hockey. Wickenheiser has competed in several Olympics Games, most recently holding the Canadian flag at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Amazingly, she has also represented Canada as a member of the women's softball team at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Wickenheiser was given the Order of Canada in 2011 for her achievements as an athlete and for her contributions to the growth of women's hockey.
3. Catriona Le May Doan
Catriona Le May Doan has broken 13 world records, including being the first woman to break the 38-second barrier for the 500 m, skating 37.90s (she since broke that record four more times!). Le May Doan is also an Officer of the Order of Canada.
4. Clara Hughes
Clara Hughes is the only woman to win Olympic medals in both cycling and speed skating, and is the only person to win multiple medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. She is an Officer of the Order of Canada, and has a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame. Hughes is also very involved with raising awareness about mental health issues, and has spoken publicly about her battle with depression.
5. Cindy Klassen
Cindy Klassen is a champion speed skater, and is the first Canadian to win five medals at a single Winter Olympics. She is tied with Clara Hughes as the Canadian with the most Olympic medals, with six medals in total.
