Ten in a row: YMCA of Greater Toronto again recognized as a top GTA employer
The YMCA’s vision is to create a healthy and vibrant future for every individual and our communities, and this starts at home with our staff and volunteers.
For Lucy, data and Volunteer Development specialist, working at the YMCA means getting to work with individuals who are passionate about what they do and who want to put community first. “Working at the YMCA is helping others; it is being united by a common goal and being motivated to do your job, not just to the best of your ability, but better,” she says. “When I go to work every day, I know the decisions I make matter. By doing my job well I help to connect community members with services that they need so they are empowered to make their lives better. On top of that, I am surrounded by staff who care about my professional development and celebrate my efforts to further my education and training.”
Lindsay, Child Care centre supervisor, feels that the YMCA has been instrumental in launching her career. “I started my career with the YMCA straight out of college,” she says. “I have been offered many opportunities since to further my career, and am now a full-time supervisor at one of our amazing before and after school programs.” She also feels supported by a sense of community at the YMCA. “The YMCA is more than just a place of work, it’s a family and I’m very proud to belong to it.”
Manager Newcomer Youth Settlement Programs, Leora is grateful for the YMCA’s support during several life transitions, including starting a family. “Being a working mother of two young children is challenging,” she says, “but I feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to continue to grow within my career while simultaneously growing my family.”
Our recognition as a Top GTA Employer for the tenth year in a row is special. It tells us that our workplace practices are regarded as being continually innovative and progressive, and that we are providing a positive and rewarding work experience for our staff and volunteers.
The YMCA of Greater Toronto is honoured to be recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers, and we take pride in giving back to our staff and volunteers who work hard to live the YMCA’s vision every day in the relationships they build, and programs and services they provide so that our communities can be home to the healthiest children, teens, adults, and families.
