Nine in a row: YMCA of Greater Toronto again recognized as a top GTA employer
This is why it is such an honour for us to be recognized, for the ninth consecutive year, as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers — a competition which “has become the benchmark in the Greater Toronto Area for workplace best practices.”
Recognition as a top employer in the GTA is important to us, because it means that our workplace practices are regarded as being innovative and progressive, and that we are providing a positive and rewarding work experience for our staff who contribute tremendously each day.
As part of the Top GTA Employers competition, the Y was evaluated based on the following eight criteria:
- Physical workplace;
- Work atmosphere and social initiatives;
- Health, financial and family benefits;
- Vacation and time-off;
- Employee communications;
- Performance management;
- Training and skills development; and
- Community involvement.
Detailed highlights and reasons for selection can be found on the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers website. The announcement of the winners will also be published today in the Metro Edition of The Globe and Mail in print and online.
A team of board members, senior leaders, and staff will be attending the official reception later today to accept the award on behalf of the Y.
At the YMCA of Greater Toronto, we are excited about our accomplishments and the future. We look forward to continually finding innovative and meaningful ways to give back to our staff and developing workplace initiatives and practices to help them reach their potential. It is thanks to our volunteers, staff, and leaders — who so generously offer their skills, energy, and commitment — that we are able to make a positive difference in the lives of many in the GTA. And it is thanks to initiatives such as the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition that we are able to collectively create positive workplaces and better our communities.
