March Break Camp – New Experiences and Lifelong Friends
Megan, a camp leader at Central YMCA loves the opportunity of interacting with kids in a setting that’s both entertaining and educational:
I have been given the chance to mentor children, teaching them skills through a variety of games that they will be able to use later in life such as team building and positive verbal communication.”
Morning
Once everyone arrives, the kids have a chance to get their feet wet in our swimming pools – one of our more popular activities. Swimming is a great way to start the day as it helps wake up the senses, improve body awareness and warm up motor skills. There are activities for all swimming levels from free swim to ‘Marco Polo’. Camper Talia loves being in the water because she feels “part mermaid!”
Midday
Following a quick snack, campers get to take part in some creative activities. Arts and Crafts is Alex’ favourite because he loves building and creating things with his hands. Other days, campers can learn acting skills in drama class or bust a move during dance class.
Afternoon
After refueling at lunch time, kids get to play outdoors or in the gym. To create the most stimulating and memorable experience, sometimes different activities are run at the same time to give campers the choice of what to do. Sports and games make Cyrus feel healthy; he explains that it’s a good way to get some exercise.
The Y offers before and after care at no extra cost. This is to accommodate your schedule for a hassle-free week!
Lasting Memories
Spring break camp is a chance to give your children new experiences and skills while creating a sense of community. Just ask our veteran campers and great friends Mia and Elizabeth about their greatest camp takeaways:
Sometimes we don’t feel like doing some things, but once we try it, it’s fun!”
