It takes a village to build a stronger community. Thankfully, the Kingston Road Village has a solid start, with compassionate neighbours and a passion for supporting deserving causes that help people thrive. The organizations that have already put down roots here show just how much potential this neighbourhood has to help present and future generations flourish. And we’re so excited to join them in 2020 to help build an even stronger community and a better place to live for everyone.
In the spirit of community and bringing neighbours together, we created a map spotlighting all the ways you can enjoy the neighbourhood. Along Kingston Road, from Hannaford Street to Victoria Park Avenue, the historic Kingston Road Village is home to quaint boutiques, great eats, and plenty of character.

Eat
Situated right in the heart of the Kingston Road Village, The Porch Light boasts a healthy, delicious menu that’s locally sourced and designed to bring our community closer. From foodies to families, the space is welcoming to all — there’s even a kid’s playroom in the back! Make sure to pop in for Sunday brunch, grab a coffee on your way to work, or treat yourself to a healthy lunch after a yoga session; The Porch Light is just a quick 4-minute stroll from your new YMCA.

Our neighbour across the street, JR Art Lab, is a digital art studio that hosts a series of sculpting, painting, design, film and photography workshops. Owners Shane Bailey and Bryan Chen opened the studio to provide a safe space for kids to develop their skills in digital arts. On Saturdays, they alternate hosting movie nights and an art collective, where community members can come in and get help with any digital project they’re working on. It’s truly a space for the entire community!

Just east of the Kingston Road YMCA, you’ll find the charming Collected Joy, home to all things beautiful. Explore their locally-sourced, hand-crafted jewelry, cards, stationary, pottery, glassware and more.

And of course, at 907 Kingston Road, you’ll find us! In 2020, we’ll open our doors to help keep you and your family healthy — physically, mentally, and socially. Our new, 60,000 square-foot facility will have swimming pools, conditioning rooms, fitness studios, a full-sized gymnasium, and many more welcoming spaces where we’ll offer diverse programs for people of all ages. Here, more people will have the chance to move, to learn, to connect, and to change for the better.
These health-promoting resources will be critical as the Kingston Road community grows over the coming years. By expanding access to recreation facilities and programs; shared, inclusive spaces; opportunities to build resilience and social skills; family-friendly programs that bring generations together; and so much more, we’ll work to make sure no one gets left behind.
