Team building experience at YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre
At YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre our staff are trained to guide groups through the journey of becoming a team by ultimately working through Tuckman’s Stages of Group Development. From the initial forming of a group we present participants with a teambuilding challenge that involves all members. Our staff expertly facilitate this first steps of a group becoming a team.
As a group progress, they experience the second stage of development, storming; a challenging phase and many do not progress past this stage. Often conflicting views on how to best approach the goal consume a group to the point that the objective is not achieved. Our staff are experienced in guiding a group through this stage of development; by increasing the stakes in the goal we advance groups through the period by utilizing one of our many low ropes elements.
At the third stage, norming, we assigned team members responsibility of advancing to new stages. This forces the team to establish the drive to work towards the ultimate goal of becoming a team.
The fourth stage of performing, is where the group is able to complete more complex tasks such as climbing one of eight different high ropes courses. This provides a sense of accomplishment only achieved as a team that will give each member the confidence and trust in one another that they can then take back to their classroom, school, workplace or home.
If you want to model a team building experience for your group and become a cohesive unit then you need to experience YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre. Consider us your batting practice to get your group ready to play ball.
