8 Tips for Quick and Easy Camp Lunches
- Avoid packing any nuts or products that may contain nuts, and ask your child not to share/trade their food to respect other campers with allergies.
- Since you burn a lot of energy at camp, pack lots of small snacks to munch on throughout the day.
- Foods that are high in protein are great! Try pepperettes, cheese and crackers, or hummus and veggies.
- Staying hydrated is important; make sure you pack lots of water!
- Make sure you are sending a variety of foods for your camper to get them through the day. You can use the Canada Food Guide as a reference.
- Quick lunch items give your child more time to eat. Try pre-cutting fruits, veggies, or cheese to make sure your kids have enough time to eat a balanced meal.
- Pack your lunch in a reusable container to avoid lots of garbage, and use an insulated lunch bag to keep food cool and fresh.
- Kids are more likely to eat a lunch that they've helped pack.
