Award Ceremony

Participants of the Y4Y Digital Media Contest were recognized and celebrated at the annual Y4Y Award Ceremony on the evening of December 16 2021. The Award Ceremony not only celebrates the accomplishments and hard work of contestants, but also acknowledges the efforts made by community partners, contest organizer jury members and youth jury members. It is an opportunity to bring together and celebrate youth from across the province.

Based out of Manitoba, 47 Filmworks is a team of passionate award winning filmmakers and photographers. Their passion for these mediums have led them to start a successful freelance video and photography company where they have provided their services to weddings, businesses, musicians, and a whole bunch of other creative endeavors.

Jameel Muslun (2nd Place)

Calling Ontario home, Jameel is a passionate filmmaker who has loved the moving image from a young age. He is always seeking to refine his craft and is always on the lookout for the interesting idea or challenge to inspire his next video.

Gabriel Cutz (3rd Place)

Calling Ontario home, Gabriel is a jack of all trades. He can act, he can edit, and he has a keen eye for design. As someone who has always been interested in the effects cannabis can have on adolescents, he put his talents to use to spread awareness about the effects cannabis can have on youth brain development in a fun and inventive way.

Sofia Perez Segoviano (1st Place)

A psychology student and talented designer from Alberta, Sofia has always been interested in using her keen eye for design to help raises awareness on a variety of issues. The topic of mental health is of particular interest to her and she hopes to use her design skills to spread awareness about a positive approach to mental health.

Justin Yu (2nd Place)

A computer science student hailing from Alberta, Justin has always enjoyed graphic design and never walked away from a chance to put his skills to the test. As he continues his academic career he hopes to continue to further refine his eye for design by creating works that discuss topical issues.
