Forest School is an innovative educational approach that embraces the wonders of nature as the ultimate classroom. This nature-based learning method is a unique blend of outdoor exploration, play, and experiential learning. At Forest School, children and educators immerse themselves in the natural environment, sparking curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the world around them.
At YMCA Cedar Glen’s Forest School, children will spend a half day exploring the forests, streams, and fields that make up our 263 acre property. Our program supports child-led play and discovery in the outdoors, connecting children with each other and the land. Alongside experienced educators, children will be encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and learn new skills in a supportive environment.
Our winter session will run once per week on Saturday mornings, between 9:00am and 12:00pm, from January 11th to March 8th, 2025.

Situated on 263 acres of the Oak Ridges Moraine, YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre is the perfect place for children, youth and adults to grow in confidence and learn new skills. Cedar Glen welcomes outdoor education, retreat and conference groups, offering meals in our dining hall, overnight accommodations, meeting facilities and outdoor experiential education programs. Day camp runs during summer and school breaks, and a modern child care centre provides licensed care in the natural setting.
