Y Guide FAQ

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about the Y Guide:

What is the Y Guide?

The Y Guide is a directory of all programs available for registration at the YMCA of Greater Toronto for participants 0-18 years of age, and family camp programs. There are plans to expand this directory in the future. The Guide allows you to select programs you are interested in registering for, and creating a list of Favourite Items. When you are ready to register, you will complete the registration within My Y, our account membership and program registration tool.

How do I register for a program?

All registrations will be completed in My Y, our account membership and program registration tool. The Y Guide links to My Y.

What programs are found in the Y Guide?

Depending on timing in each season, and related program registration windows, you will be able to view Camp, Health and Fitness Children’s Programs, Licensed School Break and Outdoor Centre programs.

Why do some programs have Membership Fees and Non-Member Fees?

If you are a member of YMCA Health and Fitness centres, some programs have reduced rates to account for this membership.

Do I need a membership to sign up for programs?

No. A membership is not required to register for programs. Health and Fitness members do receive a reduced rate on some programs.

Is bussing available for all programs?

No. Bussing is only available during the summer to some Day Camp locations.

Why can I view the program, but cannot register for it?

Before registration opens, you are able to see what programs will be available for registration. This allows you to plan ahead and know what options will be available. The registration start dates are listed under each program.

Why is my list of Favourites empty?

If you have recently cleared your computer’s cache, all programs saved to your Favourite Items list will be cleared.

Are programs eligible for Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) fee reductions?

Yes. The only program fees that are eligible for the CWELCC 52.75% fee reduction are the Licensed School Break programs. To qualify, the registered child must be 6 years of age or younger. Camp and Health & Fitness Children’s Registered programs are not eligible for CWELCC fee reductions.

What does ‘non-resident’ mean?

A ‘non-resident' is terminology used in our account membership and program registration tool, My Y. It identifies anyone who is not a current YMCA child care family, member of our health and fitness centres, a current participant of our children’s registered programs or a current participant of a camp program.
