2019 YMCA City Builders

Creating Transformative Impact, Together

On October 17, 2019, our YMCA City Builders circle grew, as we celebrated our newest honourees. We’re profoundly grateful to the following individuals, foundations, and corporations that have donated one million dollars or more to strengthen inclusion and well-being in our communities.

Clark Family Foundation

For Fran and Edmund Clark, their passion for creating opportunities for Syrian refugee-background youth in East York led them to make the single largest gift toward youth programming at our Y… ever, with the creation of the newly established Clark Catalyst Fund for Newcomers and Refugees at the YMCA of Greater Toronto.

Goldie Feldman, Daphne Wagner, David Green, and Lita and Mike Green

The Wagner Family

A longtime donor to the Y, Goldie Feldman has impacted the lives of countless individuals and families across the GTA. Her gifts to our YMCA Centres of Community—such as North York YMCA—has provided critical programming and supports to children, youth, newcomers, families, and older adults. She also generously supported YMCA Sprott House, which provides housing and wraparound supports to youth who identify as LGBTQ2S+ and are experiencing homelessness.

Steve and Sally Stavro Family Foundation

Steve and Sally Stavro

Having arrived in Toronto’s emerging east end as a boy, Steve Stavro had an intimate understanding of the newcomer experience that stayed with him. Throughout his life, alongside his wife Sally, this passionate sportsman and successful business leader always made giving back a priority—a legacy Sally and their family carry forward today. Read on to discover why a new YMCA Centre of Community is being named after these two outstanding YMCA City Builders.

Anonymous Donors

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous YMCA City Builder family who has chosen to give to the Strong Start, Great Future Capital Campaign, we’ll be able to provide more people in more communities across the GTA with access to the proven, research-backed programs and supports they need to achieve physical, mental, and social well-being for themselves.
