Ways to support
Every little bit helps.
Your support will give those who need it most, regardless of their financial means, access to our supportive programs and services. Your gift will go to work immediately; helping us meet current needs and providing financial assistance to those who need our support. You can bring us closer to making the GTA being home to the healthiest children, teens and young adults. You’ll receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount you give (above $10), resulting in tax savings for you.
Planned Gifts and Bequests
How to Make a Bequest
By including a charitable bequest in your will, you can make a significant gift to the YMCA of Greater Toronto that will help shape our future and build healthier communities where everyone belongs.
It can be as simple as a sentence or two in your will, or a codicil appended to your present will, that names the YMCA of Greater Toronto as the beneficiary of a portion of your estate, or of particular assets in your estate.
Sample Language for a Charitable Bequest to the YMCA of Greater Toronto
"I give to YMCA of Greater Toronto or its successors (Charitable Reg. # - 11930 7080 RR0001) the sum of $_________ of my estate to be used for its general purposes."
OR you may give a percentage of the remainder of your estate after all other bequests have been made:
"I give to YMCA of Greater Toronto or its successors (Charitable Reg. # - 11930 7080 RR0001) ________ % of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for its general purposes."
OR, you may prefer to give a particular asset:
"I give to YMCA of Greater Toronto or its successors (Charitable Reg. # - 11930 7080 RR0001) my shares of “XYZ” stock to be used for its general purposes."
**Please note that the information provided is general in nature. We encourage that you contact and consult your own legal and financial counsel in the development of your own financial estate plans.
Every bequest big or small makes a difference. If the time is ever right for you to remember our organization in your will, that would be wonderful and we would be delighted to hear from you at any time.
Gifts of Stocks and Securities
A meaningful gift with tax benefits.
The benefits of donating a gift of securities to the YMCA are two-fold. First, you will receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the donation in the amount of the closing trading price on the day the YMCA of Greater Toronto receives the security. Second, your donation is exempt from the capital gains tax that typically applies to the sale of a security.
