YMCA of Greater Toronto celebrates 10th year as top employerDecember 08, 2017
TORONTO – December 8, 2017 – The YMCA of Greater Toronto (GTA) is thrilled to announce it has been selected as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for its 10th successive year. The Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition has become the benchmark in the Greater Toronto Area for workplace best practices and the YMCA GTA is honoured to be a recipient of this award.
Top Employer recognitions are awarded only after rigorous evaluations. The YMCA GTA was assessed based on eight criteria: physical workplace; social atmosphere; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
“I’m truly honoured that we’ve earned this prestigious award ranking us among the best workplaces in Canada, said Medhat Mahdy, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Toronto. “The Top Employer award is a stamp of endorsement, confirming what I already know about the YMCA: our staff and volunteers are community builders who’ve chosen to devote their skills and hard work to the good cause of building a brighter future for everyone in the GTA. I also know that, to achieve that mission, we must empower our staff and volunteers, giving them the resources, healthy environment, learning opportunities, and support they need to do their best work every day.”
The YMCA’s recognition as a Top GTA Employer for the 10th year in a row is a milestone achievement. This decade-long history of recognition as a Top Employer firmly acknowledges our workplace practices as innovative and progressive; continually providing a positive and rewarding work experience for staff and volunteers.
In addition to progressive workplace practices, the YMCA GTA is also recognized as one of Canada’s top employers for young people and is one of the country’s best diversity employers. In this inclusive and enrichening environment, staff have the freedom, and the resources, to fuel their passion with fulfilling work in helping the YMCA achieve their mission.
