The YMCA of Greater Toronto was joined by government and community partners, donors, employees and volunteers to launch the Grand Opening celebrations of the charity’s newest Centre of Community, the Cooper Koo Family Cherry St. YMCA Centre.

The new facility will officially opens its doors on May 30. The state-of-the-art 82,000 sq. ft. building will allow more than 8,000 children, youth and families access to much-needed YMCA services and programs in the Canary District and the wider West Don Lands neighbourhood.
Leading up to the opening, many celebratory events will be taking place at the Cooper Koo Family YMCA. Today, all special guests heard from a variety of community partners: naming donors Krystal Koo and Michael Cooper, Joel Roberts, Chair of the Youth Advisory Council, Mitzie Hunter, MPP of Scarborough-Guildwood, Councillor Pam McConnell, Will Fleissig, CEO of Waterfront Toronto, and YMCA of Greater Toronto's Diane Sinhuber, Chair of the Board of Directors, Medhat Mahdy, President and CEO, and Sarah Beldick, General Manager of Cooper Koo Family YMCA.
This event kicks off the YMCA's Grand Opening Weekend festivities. Join us on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 for fun-filled activities including tours of the new centre, fitness classes, family sports, a fair, BBQ and so much more!
