Program Description

The Garden will be a new project run by volunteers. Whether it be the initial planting of the Garden to its continual maintenance; fundraising for its development or planning its programming; our community garden will operate because of a dedicated and hardworking group of volunteers.

Major Duties

  • Contribute ideas on sustainability and how they can be implemented successfully at the YMCA.
  • Light digging of soil.
  • Planting, maintenance and watering
  • Be positive, helpful and welcoming at all times.
  • Build relationships with members and introduce them to other members, staff and volunteers.
  • Deliver YMCA service responsibly, honestly, respectfully and with care.


  • Minimum age 20.
  • Successful applicants to this role will need to provide a Police Reference Check from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
  • Green thumb an asset.
  • A positive and dependable work ethic.
