This free event is part of a speaker series in celebration of PRIDE 2017 that explores the theme of creating inclusive spaces for gender and sexual diversity.Tammy identifies as a Queer – Trans – Muslim photographer. They are currently aiming to document the work and experiences of queer and/or trans artists both within and outside of their communities through photography. Tammy has often struggled to find a community that is inclusive of their work and identity, so they decided to form a community of their own by networking with and photographing other queer and/or trans people in order to share and create more inclusive topics and spaces together.
To better reflect our members' needs, we're creating a new membership for two people, lowering prices for young adults, and making changes to our Children's Registered Programs.
As of April 2017, two people living at the same address can share a General or Plus membership for a reduced rate. At least one of the two members must be 22 years old or over, and both must use the same payment method. 2-person General memberships will cost $69 per month (plus tax), and 2-person Plus memberships will cost $110 per month (plus tax).
If you currently have a Family General or Family Plus membership with only two people, one of whom is 22 or older, we'll automatically convert you to a new 2-person membership. If you had a Family General membership, your monthly payments will be reduced from $81 to $69 per month (plus tax); if you had a Family Plus membership, your payments will be reduced from $122 to $110 per month (plus tax). These new rates will begin automatically on your next regularly scheduled payment date in April.
If you live with another YMCA member and each have individual memberships, you will not automatically be converted to a 2-person membership. Please stop by the membership desk, and we’ll help you change your membership category and update your payment record.
If you have a Family membership consisting of one adult over the age of 22 and one under 14 years who's in Registered Programs, we'll automatically convert you to a 2-person membership on your next YMCA membership anniversary. At that time, you’ll no longer pay the Registered Option, and can instead choose which programs to register for at a rate of $16 per month, per program.
Have questions? Check out our FAQs for more details.
Beginning in March 2017, we'll have two types of memberships for adults: a Young Adult membership for individuals 22 – 29 years old, and an Adult 30+ membership for individuals 30 years and up.
If you currently have an Adult General membership and are between 22 – 29 years old, we'll automatically convert you to our new Young Adult membership and your monthly payments will be reduced to $39 per month (plus tax) as of your regularly scheduled payment in March.
If you currently have an Adult General membership and are 30 years old or over, your monthly rate will remain at $48 per month (plus tax).
If we don't have your date of birth on file, you'll keep your Adult General membership and your regularly scheduled payment in March will be $48 (plus tax). However, if you're between 22 – 29 years old, simply bring government-issued photo ID to the membership desk, and we'll change your membership to the Young Adult category.
Over the past five years, our children’s Registered Programs have become substantially more costly to deliver. In order to continue providing the high-quality programs the YMCA prides itself upon, we’ve developed a new, sustainable pricing model for them. Over the coming year, we will be phasing out the all-inclusive Registered Program option fee of $19 per month, which allowed children to sign up for an unlimited number of Registered Programs. We found that this model was not only difficult to sustain, but it was excluding thousands of children from accessing even one program due to long wait lists.
Our new model will allow you to register for as many Registered Programs as you choose at a cost of $16 per program, per month. At just under $4 per lesson, this new model still provides terrific value, and it will allow us to create new and exciting instructional programs that more children will be able to enjoy.
Your monthly billing will remain as is until your next YMCA membership anniversary, after which your payments will change as follows:
Individual Full Fee Members
Preschool, Child, and Youth Full Fee memberships will include one Registered Program. Each additional program will cost $16 per month.
Individual Assisted Members
Preschool, Child, and Youth Assisted memberships will include one Registered Program. Each additional program will be offered at a reduced rate of $10 per month.
Family General & Family Plus Full Fee Members with the Registered Option
Family General memberships will be automatically reduced to $81 per month (plus tax), and Family Plus memberships will be automatically reduced to $122 per month (plus tax). These are the costs of Family General and Family Plus Memberships without the Registered Option. Registered Programs will no longer be included in your monthly membership payments; each Registered Program will cost $16 per month, per child.
Family General Assisted Members with the Registered Option
Registered Programs will no longer be included in your monthly membership payments; each Registered Program will be offered at a reduced rate of $10 per month. These changes will be made in conjunction with your regular membership review meetings, so you’ll have an opportunity to discuss them with our staff and express any concerns or needs you may have.
These changes only apply to Registered Programs, which include swimming lessons, martial arts, and instructional basketball, soccer and dance. We offer a variety of drop-in programs for kids and families that will still be included in your membership, such as Family Gym, Family Swim, and a wide variety of Family Sports programs.
We'll notify you in writing, and you'll have an opportunity to change the Registered Programs on your membership before we adjust your monthly fees.
Our membership team is available during your centre’s regular hours of operation to answer all of your questions, and offer recommendations for the best membership options for you and your family. Please don’t hesitate to drop by the membership desk, or call us at 1-800-223-8024, if you have any concerns. You can also read our FAQs for more details.
