About Brampton Heart Lake Y Day Camp

Heart Lake in North Brampton is the ideal setting to for Outdoor Adventure Day Camp. We take full advantage of the outdoor spaces and explore the site’s trails, waterfront and outdoor green spaces. Programs carry on rain or shine so come prepared with outdoor gear based on weather! Shade structures are available for shelter during inclement weather. Camp operates 9:00am – 4:00pm, Extended hours are available on site from 7:30 - 9:00am and 4:00 - 6:00pm for an additional fee of $40/week..

What's Camp like at Brampton Heart Lake Y Day Camp?

Whether it's your child is an experienced camper or it's their first experience, it's always helpful to know what they could expect this summer! 

    8:50 - 9:00am: Sign In

    9:00 - 9:30am: Opening Circle and Attendance
    Campers and staff participate in fun songs, games and camp traditions.

    9:30 - 9:45am: Transition Time
    Campers and staff rotate to their first activity. They are given the opportunity to hydrate, eat a snack, use the washroom and apply sunscreen or bug spray if required. Staff will take this time to clean and sanitize equipment and spaces.

    9:45 – 10:30am: Program Block One
    Campers participate in their first program. For example; campers in science would participate in an exciting science project or experiment. Please note that some groups may combine two program times depending on the activity.

    10:30 – 10:45am: Transition Time

    10:45 – 11:30am: Program Block Two

    11:30 – 12:15pm: Lunch
    This time is allocated to hydration and refueling. Group challenges and riddles make this downtime exciting for all.

    12:15 – 1:00pm: Program Block Three

    1:00 – 1:15pm: Transition Time

    1:15 – 2:00pm: Program Block Four

    2:00 – 2:15pm: Transition Time

    2:15 – 3:00pm: Program Block Five

    3:00 – 3:45pm: Closing Circle and Daily Debrief
    The camp day ends with a closing circle and values bead ceremony. Counselors recognize campers who have demonstrated positive values throughout the day. At the end of the week, campers who have earned all 6 values beads are awarded their gold bead of excellence. On Fridays, the coveted camp spirit trophy is awarded to the camper group that earned the most spirit points.

    3:45 – 4:00pm
    Transition to Extended Hours, tidy up and sign out.

    The Extended Hours program provides campers with a variety of activities to choose from such as board games, puzzles, melt beads and arts & crafts.
    Campers are provided with a pre-packaged snack in the morning and afternoon. Please bring a re-fillable water bottle as drinks are not provided

Getting Ready for Camp

Here is everything you need to know in order to get your camper ready for a summer with the Y!

    As you approach the gate, inform staff that you are here to drop off at YMCA Day Camp. Proceed through the gates and follow signs to Hill and Dale. As you drive up to the site you will see our camp site on the left and a car park on the right. Please park in the car park not on the side of the road or pull into camp, this is to protect our campers and ensure there is space for other traffic to flow while you are signing in your camper.

    Bussing is available for $60/week round trip.

    The Right to Disconnect - Following the new Ontario Bill 27 and in keeping with our values, the YMCA of Greater Toronto is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of employees. A Right to Disconnect policy has been initiated effective of June 2, 2022. The policy is intended to support work/life balance and staff wellbeing by ensuring that employees have the right to disconnect from their work outside of their scheduled hours regardless of whether they are in a centre/office or working remotely. Therefore, it is important to note that families will be contacted during Day Camp business hours which are 8:00am – 6:00pm.
