On February 19, 2013, the YMCA was named as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada. The YMCA believes in enabling everyone to achieve physical, social, emotional and mental health by ensuring our work environment is welcoming, engaging, and socially inclusive. We share a vision of an inclusive, healthy and dynamic society in which every person regardless of background, experience or circumstance is able to participate and benefit fully.
On September 24, 2013, The YMCA of Greater Toronto was once again named as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People! The average age of employees at our Association is 36 years old and over 45 per cent of our staff are under the age of 30. We know that many of our young staff members have their first job experience with the YMCA. Last summer we hired 740 young people with an average age of 21! Many of these young staff members go on to have long careers with the YMCA. Our commitment to young adults is reflected in our Strategic Plan, Strong Start, Great Future. We believe that by providing our young people with a supportive environment in which they can flourish, we create a foundation for a healthy, vibrant future.
